C-Back™ Obstacle Detection System for Vehicle Reverse-Assist

Our expertise in obstacle detection began when MARLEX developed C-Back™. Recognizing the values of deploying obstacle detection in the trucking and heavy equipment sectors in terms of safety and reduced damage costs, we began investigating a backup safety system for the light-duty and passenger vehicle market. MARLEX Engineering Inc. was at the forefront of one-and-a-half years of development of the patented C-Back™ technology, an ultrasonic-based rear obstacle collision avoidance system.

OEM Solutions

We have expanded on our expertise in ultrasonic obstacle detection to develop a park-assist system that is ideal for controlling embedded sensors around commercial and passenger vehicles in an OEM deployment. This innovative two-sensor system uses beam shaping and advanced processing to compute the coordinates of the obstacle closest to the vehicle. Because the exact position of the obstacle is known, it is possible to define regions in the detection area of the sensors in which detected obstacles are ignored. This feature gives the system the capability to ignore obstacles that are in the detection area of the sensors but which do not pose a threat to the vehicle.
