Biomedical & Industrial Electronic Vision/Imaging Systems

MARLEX has developed and successfully implemented fluorescent based microscopy imaging solutions. We have integrated laser illumination, narrow band filtering, and precision position control with our imaging system technology to capture exceptionally clear images at resolutions of 0.6 microns per pixel. We have developed custom software for the processing of images obtained from our imaging system designs and we have further integrated the software into a stand-alone DSP based product. Our design efforts have resulted in development of the BACscan™ reader.

LED Lighting Solutions

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) continue to meet and exceed the capabilities of traditional lighting technologies in many areas, including efficiency, longevity, ruggedness, range of operating temperatures and economic benefits.

Ahead of the rapid advancements in LED technology, MARLEX Engineering has developed applications that utilize the current generation of LEDs and is designing new technologies to take advantage of improvements in LED capabilities in the near future.

The rugged nature of LEDs makes them ideal in environments where they will be exposed to shock and vibration, such as automotive applications. Our High-Output LED Lamp Driver has been used to drive the forward illumination needed for extreme off-road racing.

Fluorescent tubes contain toxic mercury and they are not well suited for operation in cold temperatures. Eliminating these and other deficiencies, MARLEX has created and patent pending technology for a drop-in LED replacement of a fluorescent tube.

Electronic Ballast Design

The MARLEX team has proven expertise in the design of both dimmable and fixed-output Electronic Ballasts for use in standard lighting applications as well as specialty applications such as Ultraviolet Light and Ozone water sterilization and treatment.

Obstacle Detection

MARLEX Engineering specializes in the design and deployment of systems capable of detecting objects inside a defined area. We employ a variety of different sensing technologies ranging from non-contact approaches such as ultrasonics, vision (camera), radar and laser, to force sensors that provide information about an object on contact. These sensors can be used separately or integrated together to provide more information about an object.

Detection can be used to issue a warning, as in the case of a system that detects obstacles in the path of a vehicle. Sensor data can also be collected and used by a central processor for use in autonomous vehicle navigation. Alternatively detection can be used to either enable or disable (lock-out) equipment when a person or object is present.

We have developed expertise in obstacle detection using multiple ultrasonic sensors and are currently working on Laser-based obstacle detection in conjunction with both Radar and ultrasonic obstacle detection.

Short-Range RF Solutions

Including the capability of wireless remote control to a product can greatly improve its versatility and market appeal. MARLEX has experience in designing low-power, short-range handheld wireless controllers and the receiver circuitry on the equipment being controlled. We can engineer a solution using a single activating button or many buttons to control multiple features. Your remote control device can be housed in a rugged dirt and moisture resistant case. No ON/OFF switch is required because our designs consume only a tiny amount of power when the buttons are not being activated. Depending on your requirements, each remote can be encoded to control only one device, or many remotes can control the same device.

MARLEX Engineering Inc. has integrated RF technology for short range bi-directional data transfer in its C-Back™ technology to allow for its use in tractor-trailer information monitoring and data transfer. This technology can be expanded to other areas, including remote Ultraviolet Light sensing and remote equipment operation alarms and data reporting.

MARLEX Engineering Inc. has developed several unique Intelligent Switch applications that can improve the way we currently interact with the electronic world.
